Russia bombs Kyiv public television

Russia bombed the headquarters of public television in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, today, Tuesday, after it issued a warning to the population of new bombing, according to a statement issued by the Russian Defense Ministry.

After the warning was issued, Russia bombed the Victory TV tower in Kyiv, stopping some channels from broadcasting.


"We warn Ukrainian citizens, who are used by Ukrainian nationalists to carry out provocations against Russia, as well as Kyiv residents who live near broadcasting points, and we ask them to leave their homes," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, Anton Gerashchenko, confirmed that Russian forces attacked the tower of the headquarters of Public Television in Kyiv.

"The TV tower was bombed by (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's Nazis," Gerashenko wrote on his channel on the social network "Telegram".

According to government authorities in Kyiv, “the enemy is attacking the capital. According to the first information, the TV tower received two missiles.

The substation that supplies electricity to the tower, as well as the televisions themselves, were bombed and damaged.

Security has been beefed up in Kyiv, with anti-tank barricades set up on main streets, especially at the entrances to government buildings, and trucks arriving with sand to make sandbags.

Units of soldiers were seen marching around the city, apparently heading towards the parliament and government headquarters for their protection.
